622 Forward: Our Operating Levy Request on the Ballot this November

Dear ISD 622 Community,

As we prepare to welcome students back for another school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your partnership and support of our schools. We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to all the learning, growth, and opportunities that await our students!

This fall, our community will have an important opportunity to help shape the future of District 622.

On Nov. 3, 2026, residents of the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District will be asked to consider an operating levy referendum that would provide $800 per pupil annually for the next 10 years. If approved, this funding would support the day-to-day operations of our schools, including protecting class sizes, retaining our wonderful teachers and support staff, maintaining critical security systems, and helping provide opportunities for our students.

The referendum is ultimately about helping ensure our students have access to the supportive, safe learning environments, programs, and educational opportunities that help them thrive. Over the past three years, ISD 622 has absorbed over $15 million in budget cuts. Our district receives significantly less local operating revenue per student than neighboring school districts. This is not about comparison, but about an investment in the education our students deserve, and our community expects.

To help families and community members learn more about the proposal, we have launched isd622.org/levy2026, a dedicated website that serves as the central source of referendum information.

At isd622.org/levy2026, you can:

• Learn about the purpose and goals of the referendum.

• See how funding would be used if approved.

• Estimate your tax impact with the tax calculator.

• Explore answers to frequently asked questions.

• Find election and voting information.

• Submit questions directly to the district.

Providing clear, factual information is an important part of our responsibility to school families and the broader community. After last year's referendum did not pass, we heard a desire for more information and more opportunities to learn about the proposal. This website was created to help answer questions and make it easier for residents to understand how the referendum could affect our schools, taxpayers and community.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and early voting begins Friday, Sept. 18. Whether you are still learning about the proposal or have been following these conversations for some time, I encourage you to visit isd622.org/levy2026, explore the resources available, and reach out with any questions.
